The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s welcome of the agreement reached between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran to end military operations and commence detailed negotiations over a 60-day period with the aim of reaching a permanent agreement.
The Kingdom commended the mediation efforts undertaken by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the State of Qatar, as well as the response of the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran to these efforts, which contributed to the achievement of this agreement.
The Kingdom emphasized the importance of restoring security and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz to its state prior to February 28.
It also expressed its hope for achieving peace in a manner that enhances the security of the region and the world through a lasting agreement that takes into account the security interests of regional countries and upholds the principle of respect for the internal affairs of states.
