Diriyah JAX District to Host 'Cities Under Quarantine' Exhibition

Ajel News

The Museums Commission is organizing the "Cities Under Quarantine: The Mailbox Project" exhibition, by artist and curator Abed Al Kadiri, at the Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art in Diriyah's JAX District, from August 28 to September 28.

The exhibition features a series of artist books by Arab artists who document their experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. The project began when Al Kadiri, co-founder of Dongola Limited Editions publishing house, sent 57 handmade books to Arab artists across the globe to creatively engage with the reality of quarantine.

This third stop for the exhibition, which was previously shown in Florence, Italy, and Doha, Qatar, showcases a collection of works reflecting on a pivotal moment in contemporary history.

The pieces explore themes of isolation, the suspension of daily life, and the fragility of human existence.

Two dialogue sessions and a live performance are featured on the sidelines of the exhibition.
