Ajel News

The new edition of the AlUla Desert Blaze race kicked off yesterday, with more than 500 runners from around the world competing in four challenging distances.

The race stages, which began at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, include a full marathon of 42.2 kilometers, a half marathon of 21.1 kilometers, and shorter races of 10 and 5 kilometers.

The routes start at the historic Hegra site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and wind through AlUla’s unique natural and historical landmarks, including the Maraya building, rocky canyons, and lush oases.

Thursday’s preparations included the arrival of competitors, registration, a briefing on race logistics, and the distribution of gear, setting the stage for one of the region’s most prominent desert races.
