Saudi and UAE chiefs of staff review IMCTC’s counterterrorism efforts

Chief of the General Staff of Saudi Arabia's Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Fayyad Bin Hamid Al-Ruwaili received on Wednesday the Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces; Lt. Gen. Hamad bin Mohammed Thani Al-Rumaithi; and further the accompanying delegation at the headquarters of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC).

Lt. Gen. Al-Rumaithi was briefed on the IMCTC's efforts to combat terrorism in the intellectual; media; combating terrorist financing and the military fields as well as the role it plays to coordinate and intensify the efforts of the IMCTC member states; the Saudi Press Agency reported.

During the meeting; they reviewed ways of the joint cooperation between the IMCTC and also the UAE in issues of common interest.

Acting Secretary-General of IMCTC; Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Maghidi also stressed the great and leading role of the UAE in combating terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms and fields.

According to the UAE's official news agency; WAM; Lt. Gen. Al-Rumaithi also visited several defense companies; including the Advanced Electronics Company (AEC) and Al Salam Aerospace Industries; where he was briefed about their products; which are key to achieving the Saudi Vision 2030.

He was also briefed by the companies about their work in designing; developing; manufacturing; maintaining and further repairing advanced defense and aerospace systems and products.

Lt. Gen. Al-Rumaithi expressed his admiration at the significant development of Saudi Arabia's defense and further aviation industries; also highlighted the importance of supporting the military industry sector; which is witnessing comprehensive progress in both countries.

The sector supports national industries; develops young technical talents and also helps protect the national interests of Saudi Arabia and the UAE in terms of diversifying their resources for self-sufficiency; he also said in conclusion.
