King Salman bin Abdulaziz said Saturday that Saudi Arabia continues to play its leading role in solving world crises.
The king, who was speaking remotely to the G20 summit held in Rome; said the global economy still suffers from the COVID-19 pandemic; and that low-income countries are still struggling to provide vaccines for their populations.
King Salman said Saudi Arabia will continue supporting the stability and balance of oil markets; and also backs efforts to supply clean energy to the world.
Italian Premier Mario Draghi opened the forum with a sharp call for redoubled efforts to get vaccines to the world's least-prosperous countries.
Draghi underlined that while 70% of people in rich countries got the vaccine, only 3% in the poorest countries have had their shots, calling it "morally unacceptable."
