Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi received a delegation comprising representatives of major Chinese companies headed by Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Ren Hongbin.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the GCC-ASEAN and GCC-ASEAN-China summits on Monday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
During the meeting, they reviewed cooperation relations between the GCC and China, and discussed ways to develop them in various economic, commercial and investment fields, in addition to bolstering ties between the two sides to achieve common interests.
Albudaiwi stressed the importance GCC countries attach to strengthening cooperation with China, considering it an important international partner.
He praised the level of trade exchange and investment cooperation between the two sides, and lauded the role played by the CCPIT in consolidating this partnership.
He said the interest of major Chinese companies in investing in the GCC countries highlights both the region's promising investment opportunities and its stable, stimulating economic environment, advanced infrastructure, and supportive legislation.
This underscores growing international confidence in the Gulf economies and reinforces the GCC's position as a key strategic economic partner regionally and globally.
Ren Hongbin expressed appreciation for the attention and support that Gulf-Chinese relations receive, noting his country's keenness to enhance cooperation with the GCC countries in various fields of common interest.
