GCC Secretary General Stresses Council’s Support for Yemen under Constitutional Legitimacy

Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf reiterated the Council's support for Yemen and the Yemeni people under the constitutional legitimacy and through a political solution that is based on the three references of the Gulf Initiative and its executive mechanism, outcomes of the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference, and UN Security Council Resolution 2216.

DR. Al-Hajraf made his remarks today while receiving Yemeni Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik Saeed at the headquarters of the Secretariat General in Riyadh.

The Secretary General stressed the unaltered position of the GCC in supporting Yemen and enhancing its security and stability through backing the appreciated efforts of the Yemeni government that were mentioned in the Final Communiques of the 42nd Gulf Summit that was held in Riyadh on December 14, 2021.

He also praised the role and efforts of the Yemeni Prime Minister and the Yemeni government and its work from the interim capital Aden, voicing the appreciation of the Yemeni people and the international community to these efforts, mainly those pertaining to reform and anti-corruption that the Yemeni government embarked on, expressing hope for the government to continue serving the Yemeni people and boost efforts aimed at realizing legitimacy, security and stability in Yemen.

Discussions also went over the efforts and initiatives of the GCC countries that aim at realizing security, stability and peace in Yemen, in addition to addressing the latest field conditions and UN efforts to end the conflict, as well as supporting Yemen's endeavors in reaching its prosperity and welfare.
