Quick intervention by the Civil Defense averted a major tragedy; when a car crashed into a fuel tanker carrying tons of petroleum; sparking a fire on Jeddah-Makkah Expressway early Tuesday morning.
Civil Defense teams have been successful in totally controlling the fire; the General Directorate of Saudi Civil Defense said on Twitter.
The fire caused after a tanker carrying petroleum involved in a road accident.
The General Directorate of Civil Defense in Makkah had confirmed that ten vehicles had caught fire, but there were no injuries.
A video posted to the Makkah Region's official Twitter account showed cars driving by a raging fire stretching across the central divide of the highway. Later, vehicles diverted away from the scene.
