Saudi Arabia sends First air-lift relief to Khartoum to help the flood-and-rain-stricken in Sudan

The contingents of the first Saudi air-lift relief bridge arrived in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum on Monday, upon directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, to help alleviate the sufferings of Sudanese public negatively affected by heavy rains and sweeping floods.

At a press conference held at the VIP lounge at Khartoum International Airport to mark the delivery of the consignment dispatched by Riyadh-based King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), Acting Chargé d'Affaires of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Khartoum Mohammed Al-Turki, explained that the aid is an extension of the Kingdom's support for Sudan.

For hispart, Assistant Director of Emergency Relief Department at KSrelief Abu MutlaqNasser Al-Suwaidi said the total support is about 115 tons, including medical,shelter and food items which will be distributed in the most affected statesaccording to the mechanisms followed in Sudan, over the next two weeks.

For hispart, Brigadier-General Musa Idris, head of the Committee assigned todistribute the external support, explained that the Saudi plane was carryingone thousand tents, 6,000 blankets, 2000 tarpaulins, and 1500 food baskets,praising the Kingdom's efforts and support for those affected in Sudan.

In the same context, President of Alegtinam Organization for Human Development Montasser Al-Bashir praised the support of the government and people of the Kingdom for Sudan in various fields, explaining that the items will be distributed over three states: Khartoum, Nile River and White Nile, being the most affected, noting that the forthcoming convoys will arrive in two weeks carrying 24,000 baskets and 100,000 boxes of dates.
