Ajel News

The Transport General Authority (TGA) has approved regulatory updates, including the extension of certain deadlines for road transport establishments to regularize their status in freight transport activities, with the aim of enhancing operational efficiency and improving compliance levels in the sector.

The update extends the deadline for rectifying the status of road transport establishments in heavy and light freight activities until August 27, 2026, allowing businesses additional time to complete regularization procedures and comply with approved regulatory requirements.

The update also covers cases involving the reclassification of vehicle registration from private to public transport in heavy freight activities, supporting sector regulation, and enhancing fleet utilization within the regulatory framework.

Furthermore, as part of the procedures to rectify the status of establishments in light transport activities, the deadline for road transport establishments to obtain a professional driver’s card has also been extended.

The TGA confirmed that these updates are part of its efforts to develop the regulatory environment for the land transport sector and raise safety and operational efficiency levels, contributing to improved service reliability and a sustainable balance in the freight transport industry.
