The Roads General Authority (RGA) has begun assessing compliance with the Saudi Road Code on roads in Makkah and Madinah regions as part of early preparations to enhance road readiness for the 1447 AH Hajj season.
The initiative focuses on applying code standards on roads leading to the holy sites and key service areas for pilgrims. It includes on-site verification of safety elements such as signage, lighting, and barriers, along with monitoring readiness levels and issuing recommendations and corrective action plans to address observations and identify improvement opportunities.
The authority emphasized that applying the code enhances project quality, improves safety and user experience, and supports asset sustainability. It noted that the code serves as a unified technical framework aligning operational and executive entities under one standard to ensure a safe journey.
This initiative is part of RGA’s ongoing efforts to develop the road ecosystem, improve operational efficiency, and enhance safety, quality, and traffic flow.
