The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing announced the participation of more than 17,000 volunteers to date in serving pilgrims during the 1447 AH Hajj season as part of the municipal volunteer program to support field and service efforts in Makkah and the holy sites.
The ministry stated that volunteers carried out a wide range of field tasks, including guiding pilgrims to their designated locations, assisting with crowd management, and supporting search-and-rescue operations in coordination with relevant authorities.
Volunteers also distributed essential supplies to pilgrims, such as umbrellas, water bottles, and hygiene products, to enhance their comfort and reduce the effects of heat stress.
It indicated that its operational plans continue through an integrated system that includes cleaning, environmental sanitation, municipal monitoring, and volunteer efforts, given the high movement density across the holy sites.
