LCGPA Launches Gold Category for 'Saudi Made'

Ajel News

The Local Content and Government Procurement Authority (LCGPA) has introduced a new "Gold Category" for the Saudi Industry Label, an extension of its "Made in Saudi" program.

The announcement was made during the second Local Content Forum, held in partnership with the Saudi Export Development Authority's Made in Saudi program. The Gold Category aims to highlight private sector contributions to local content, elevating its significance and boosting the label's recognition among key stakeholders.

The program drives local content development by steering consumer spending towards local products and services. It also incentivizes the private sector to adopt and enhance local content practices, empowering domestic offerings and distinguishing companies based on their contribution to local content growth.

To qualify for the Gold Category, companies must meet stringent criteria, including the core requirements of the Saudi Industry Label and a certified local content certificate from LCGPA.

Seven companies from diverse sectors have already been awarded the prestigious Gold Category label.

LCGPA CEO Abdulrahman Al Samari underscored the initiative's inclusivity, targeting companies of all sizes, from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to large corporations.

"The label empowers private sector companies by positioning their products as preferred choices for consumers. By influencing purchasing decisions and fostering support for local content, the Gold Category strengthens trust in national products and services," he stated, adding that community awareness of local content reached 58% in 2023.

Saudi Export Development Authority CEO Eng. Abdulrahman Althukair hailed the Gold Category as a pivotal step in elevating local content and demonstrating the competitiveness of Saudi products and services on both domestic and international markets.

"The Gold Category is a hallmark of quality and commitment, reflecting the Kingdom's industrial excellence and aligning with Saudi Vision 2030's goals of diversifying income sources and expanding non-oil exports," he remarked.

The Made in Saudi program, a cornerstone of the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP), is spearheaded by the Saudi Export Development Authority. It aims to promote locally manufactured products among consumers and inspire businesses to expand into priority export markets.

LCGPA remains committed to advancing local content at the national level and optimizing government procurement operations, contributing to the Kingdom's economic and developmental aspirations.
