King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has launched two projects to rehabilitate fish and vegetable markets in Al-Ghaydah district in Yemen’s Al-Mahrah governorate as part of efforts to strengthen resilience in the country’s agriculture and fisheries sectors.
The projects include renovating market facades, establishing new sales outlets, upgrading water and sewage networks and improving electrical systems, KSrelief said.
The work will also involve supplying and installing metal shade structures in the vegetable market.
The projects aim to improve working conditions for vendors and provide better services for shoppers in both markets.
Al-Mahrah Local Council Secretary-General Salem Nimr praised Saudi-backed efforts to support the agriculture and fisheries sectors, saying the projects would help improve services and boost livelihoods for fishermen and vendors in the governorate.
The initiatives form part of Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian and development programs in Yemen aimed at strengthening agricultural and fisheries production, improving value chains and expanding access to markets to support livelihoods and promote sustainable economic stability.
