Iraq seizes 27 billion dinars in oil ministry corruption probe

Iraq’s Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court has announced the seizure of 27 billion dinars in the case involving the suspended Deputy Minister of Oil for Refining Affairs, Adnan Al-Jumaili.

According to the Iraqi News Agency, the investigating judge at the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court confirmed the seizure of 27 billion Iraqi dinars related to Al-Jumaili and others implicated in the case.

The judge added that, following thorough efforts to track down financial gains resulting from mismanagement in projects overseen by the accused and his associates, authorities were able to recover the funds, which had been hidden by several individuals. Investigations are ongoing to identify all those involved.

This action is part of the “Dawn Raid” campaign launched by Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi to combat corruption at its source, recover state funds, and refer those implicated to the authorities. The campaign has implicated several senior officials and members of the Iraqi parliament, which has lifted immunity from those under investigation.
