Strait of Hormuz shipping traffic falls to three-month low: Kpler

Preliminary shipping data released today showed that only one ship for shipping raw materials passed through the Strait of Hormuz yesterday, marking the lowest figure since May 7.

According to Reuters, initial data from ship tracking firm Kpler indicated that a single large gas carrier entered the strait from the Gulf of Oman on Monday.

This compares with six vessels of various types on Sunday. These numbers may change, as some ships reportedly switched off their transponders while transiting the area.

In a separate development, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced earlier today “significant progress in talks with the Iranian leadership” during his visit to Tehran with Army Chief Asim Munir.

Naqvi added that meetings with Iranian officials discussed “reactivating the Islamabad memorandum of understanding to resolve the conflict,” noting that “talks with Iran are focused on Middle East tensions and a path toward peace.”

He also stated that the meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian “ended on a very positive note.”
