Iranian interior minister visits Pakistan with message from president

Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni begins a visit to the Pakistani capital Islamabad on Monday for meetings with Pakistani officials, according to Iranian state television.

Momeni is carrying a special message from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to officials in Islamabad during his one-day visit.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar has previously emphasized the urgent need to de-escalate tensions, stressing the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries, and making the maintenance of regional peace and security a top priority.

He also underscored the need to adhere to the ceasefire commitments outlined in the Islamabad understanding and to refrain from any actions that could further escalate tensions. Both sides agreed to continue coordination and consultation on issues of mutual interest.
