US Treasury Secretary Scott Beissinger has described Iran’s Kharg Island, home to a major oil export terminal, as a “monument” to the failure of the Iranian regime, citing the absence of crude tankers at the main loading facility amid ongoing US pressure on Tehran’s oil exports.

Beissinger posted a video on X comparing the terminal’s activity before and after recent developments, writing: “Before: oil tankers fill Iran’s main crude loading terminal. After: no crude oil tankers in sight.”

The Treasury Secretary added that “the regime’s arrogance and hostile approach continue to punish ordinary Iranians,” noting that the US Treasury’s “Operation Economic Pariah,” launched on August 24, 2026, aims to isolate Iran economically and cut off the regime’s funding sources. He said the campaign is designed to deprive Tehran of oil revenues that finance terrorism, support its nuclear program, and fund the lavish lifestyles of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps elite.

Beissinger’s remarks come as Kharg Island’s main export berths have remained empty of crude oil tankers for several weeks. According to ship tracking data and European satellite imagery cited by Bloomberg, no tankers have been observed at the island’s export docks since late August, marking the longest continuous halt since the US-Iran military confrontation in February. The data shows Iranian crude exports have dropped to zero during this period, compared to about one million barrels per day in July.
