Trump says Russia sanctions exemption aims to keep talks alive

US President Donald Trump said his decision to exempt Russian exports from sanctions and tariffs is an effort to keep Russia at the negotiating table.

In a post on Truth Social, he added, "My decision regarding Russia is very simple. I am negotiating to bring peace to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, and I do not want to do anything that would foolishly push Russia away from the negotiating table."
