Yemeni defense ministry vows response to Houthi attack on military camps

Yemen's Ministry of Defense announced that several military camps and units in Marib and Hadramout provinces were attacked by the Houthi group using ballistic missiles and drones, resulting in casualties among stationed forces.

In a statement, the ministry said the attack occurred at 10:40 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, targeting armed forces as they carried out duties to secure liberated areas and international roads, and to counter what it described as militia plots and affiliated smuggling networks.

The statement added that the attack caused the death and injury of a number of armed forces personnel from various provinces across the country, describing the incident as "a crime that confirms the Houthi militia continues to shed Yemeni blood indiscriminately."

The Ministry of Defense affirmed that the Yemeni armed forces will respond to this aggression at the appropriate time and place, stressing that the attack "will not undermine the resolve of the armed forces or affect their ability to fulfill their national duties, but will only strengthen their determination and unity to defend the republic, restore the state, and end the coup."

The ministry mourned the armed forces members killed in the attack, offering condolences to their families, loved ones, and comrades, wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded, and affirming that "the blood of the martyrs will not be in vain, and their sacrifices will remain a source of strength and determination for the armed forces in the battle to defend the republic and restore the state."
