The Muslim World League has condemned the Colombian government's recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, stressing its rejection of the move and describing it as a violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions.

In a statement, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and President of the Association of Muslim Scholars, said the recognition contradicts UN Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981, which declared Israel’s imposition of its laws, jurisdiction, and administration in the occupied Golan Heights as null and void and without legal effect.

Al-Issa reiterated that the Golan Heights is occupied Syrian Arab land, emphasizing that any measures or decisions to the contrary are invalid, rejected, and condemned.

The League also warned that such positions undermine efforts to achieve peace in the region.
