Iran says 27 airports damaged in recent conflict

Twenty-seven airports across Iran suffered varying degrees of damage during the recent conflict, according to Morteza Dehghan, Director General of the Iranian Airports and Air Navigation Company, who said that key parts of airport infrastructure were hit.

Speaking at a press conference, Dehghan said the damage was not limited to specific facilities but also affected essential airport services and equipment, adding that urgent rehabilitation work had been carried out.

According to the Iranian official, the damage included airport runways, safety buildings, air navigation and inspection equipment, as well as passenger terminals.

Dehghan added, "Rehabilitating these facilities was a difficult task, but it has been completed," without disclosing the financial losses or the total cost of repairs.

These statements come amid ongoing damage to Iran's aviation sector following the Israeli attack on Iran in the summer of 2025, which affected not only ground facilities but also several aircraft.

More than a month ago, Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani announced that Bushehr Airport had been "completely destroyed" and would need to be rebuilt from scratch before it could reopen.

So far, the Iranian Airports and Air Navigation Company has not provided details on the cost of reconstruction or the duration of repairs at each airport.
