Two civilians killed, 14 injured in Houthi shelling of Marib, Yemen says

Yemen’s Ministry of Public Health and Population announced on Friday that two civilians were killed and 14 others injured, in an initial toll from Houthi militia shelling targeting several residential neighborhoods and displacement camps in the city of Marib.

In a statement carried by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), the ministry said that immediately after the attack, all hospitals and health facilities were placed on high alert, with all available medical and emergency resources mobilized to save lives and provide necessary care to the wounded.

The ministry confirmed that medical and emergency teams continue to treat the injured, while closely monitoring developments on the ground. It added that the casualty figures remain preliminary and may be updated as more information becomes available from health facilities and relevant authorities.

The ministry stressed that targeting safe residential areas and displacement camps, resulting in civilian casualties, constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and international conventions, and called for urgent action to protect civilians and end ongoing attacks by the militia.
