Arab League condemns attack on UAE oil tanker in Strait of Hormuz

Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy has condemned Iran’s targeting of a UAE oil tanker as it transited the Strait of Hormuz.

In an official statement issued today, Fahmy said the attack represents a new episode in a series of ongoing Iranian violations against the principle of freedom of navigation and the safety of maritime passages.

According to the statement, he added that this aggressive act constitutes a breach of UN Security Council resolutions—most notably Resolution 2817—which uphold freedom of navigation and prohibit attacks on commercial vessels.

The Arab League Secretary-General held Tehran fully responsible for these attacks on Arab assets, which contravene established international principles regarding freedom of navigation and the safety of waterways, warning that such actions will have significant repercussions for the security and stability of the region.
