GCC condemns Colombia's recognition of Israeli sovereignty over Golan Heights

The Gulf Cooperation Council has condemned the Colombian government's recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, stressing that this decision violates international laws and treaties, which affirm that the Golan is Syrian Arab land occupied by Israel.

Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, said that decisions and recognitions that do not reflect reality or are not based on international and UN resolutions are "unacceptable," noting their impact on peace and security efforts in the region.

Albudaiwi called on the Colombian government to withdraw what he described as the "invalid recognition," and stressed the need for Israel to comply with international legitimacy and withdraw from all occupied Arab territories, including the Golan Heights.

The Secretary-General reiterated the GCC states' firm and supportive stance toward the Syrian Arab Republic, affirming their support for Syria's sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity, including the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.

He also affirmed the GCC's categorical rejection of any measures or violations that could undermine Syria's sovereignty or diminish its territorial unity.
