An internal report by a United Nations aviation agency has revealed that Beirut airport's certification has expired, and that Lebanon lacks a fully established, independent and effective body to investigate air accidents, according to Reuters.

The shortcomings are expected to delay the resumption of direct flights between the United States and Lebanon, sources said.

Lebanese Transport Minister Faiz Rassamni said, however, that the airport is expected to regain its certification within days, adding that efforts are underway to address the concerns raised in the report.
