UN: Over 20,000 women displaced in West Bank amid rising violence

UN Women has reported that more than 20,000 women have been displaced in the occupied West Bank, warning that escalating violence, home demolitions, and movement restrictions have intensified the suffering of women, particularly those heading households.

In a new analysis, the agency said settler attacks, military operations, and movement restrictions have reached record levels not seen in the West Bank for two decades, noting that around 41,500 people have been displaced, including over 20,000 women.

The report stated that approximately 83,200 households in the West Bank are headed by women, and 40% of these families no longer live in their original homes.

The agency also highlighted the existence of 925 movement barriers, the highest number recorded in twenty years.

UN Women called for immediate action to end violence, movement restrictions, and home demolitions in the occupied West Bank, and to protect women, girls, and all civilians in accordance with international law.
