Lebanese prosecutor seeks to charge ex-president Michel Aoun over Beirut port blast

Lebanon’s public prosecutor has requested that former president Michel Aoun be charged in connection with the Beirut port explosion case.

The specialized public prosecutor asked the investigating judge to indict Aoun directly, arguing that he was previously aware of the presence and dangers of ammonium nitrate stored at the port.

According to the Lebanese prosecution’s decision, the former president knew about the situation but failed to take necessary action or raise the issue with the Supreme Defense Council.
