GCC condemns Iranian attack on UAE ADNOC tanker in Strait of Hormuz

Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jasem Mohammed Albudaiwi strongly condemned the serious Iranian attack targeting a tanker owned by the UAE's ADNOC while it was passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

In an official statement, Albudaiwi said the attack represented a dangerous and unacceptable escalation, and a direct threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation and international trade in one of the world's most vital waterways.

The GCC Secretary-General firmly rejected any Iranian attempts to turn this crucial international passage into a tool for pressure and threats. He called on the international community to take responsibility and adopt a firm stance to stop such dangerous attacks, prevent their recurrence, and ensure the freedom and security of maritime navigation, in accordance with international law, the law of the sea, and relevant international resolutions.

Albudaiwi reaffirmed the GCC's full and unwavering solidarity with the United Arab Emirates, its support for the UAE, and endorsement of all measures it takes to protect its security, sovereignty, assets, and interests.
