Lebanese president condemns ongoing Israeli attacks in south

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has condemned the ongoing Israeli attacks on southern regions of the country, citing repeated violations of the framework agreement, the work of the military coordination group, and international laws protecting civilians. He noted that these actions led to the death of an entire family from the town of Ansar.

According to a statement from the Lebanese presidency on its official X account, Aoun said, “These violations send a clear message regarding the negotiation process and the US efforts to implement the agreement.”

Earlier today, Lebanon’s Ministry of Health announced that nine people were killed and several others injured in Israeli airstrikes on the towns of Ansar and Deir Al-Zahrani in the south.

The strikes came after the Israeli military launched overnight raids on southern Lebanon, claiming they were in response to a serious breach of the agreement by Hezbollah after it attacked Israeli forces in the security zone.

Nearly seven weeks after the framework agreement was signed in Washington, the Israeli military continues to escalate operations in southern Lebanon, carrying out explosions and airstrikes on towns in the western and central sectors, with movements on three fronts.
