Israel to release five Lebanese prisoners as goodwill gesture in Beirut talks

Israeli media have reported that Israel plans to release five Lebanese prisoners as a goodwill gesture during ongoing negotiations with the Lebanese government.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has affirmed his country's determination to end hostilities with Israel through diplomatic solutions rather than war. He made the remarks during a meeting with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas in Athens.

Aoun stated that the aim of negotiations with Israel is to end the state of hostility, noting that the Lebanese people have been exhausted by wars, and that stability in Lebanon is essential for the security of both the region and Europe.
