Shipping traffic through Strait of Hormuz drops amid Iran-US tensions

Recent shipping data indicates a decrease in the number of vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz at the start of the week, coinciding with escalating attacks between the United States and Iran in the Middle East.

Figures released by the London Stock Exchange Group show that only four ships transited the strait on Sunday, compared to eight the previous day, marking a significant drop in maritime activity.

The data also revealed that at least three oil product tankers and one very large crude carrier entered the strait since Friday to load oil.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most critical oil transit chokepoints, and any disruption to its traffic can impact global energy markets.
