Muslim World League welcomes UK ban on Israeli settlement goods

The Muslim World League has welcomed the United Kingdom government's decision to ban the import of goods from illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories and to impose restrictions on services linked to these settlements.

The League stated that this move reflects a responsible stance in support of the historical and legal rights of the Palestinian people. It also welcomed the joint statement by the foreign ministers of Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom in support of a two-state solution.

Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the League and President of the Association of Muslim Scholars, highlighted the importance of this step and called on the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities by taking immediate action to halt all violations by the Israeli government. He urged effective measures against attempts to impose new demographic or geographic realities in the occupied Palestinian territories, including illegal settlement activity.

Praise for Arab and Islamic solidarity

Dr. Al-Issa also commended the strong support for the statement issued by the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt, affirming their steadfast solidarity with the Palestinian people and their unwavering support for legitimate Palestinian rights, particularly the right to establish a state in line with the two-state solution and relevant international resolutions, as the only path to achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.
