Ukraine’s emergency services reported that Russian airstrikes overnight killed 14 people and injured 27 others, also damaging several warehouses in the region that includes the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.

According to Reuters, the city’s military administration said in a statement that fires broke out in buildings used as warehouses in two districts of the capital. The administration’s post noted that “the level of danger remains high.” Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said emergency teams were dispatched to the site of one strike in a northern suburb, adding that air defense units were responding to the attack.

Ukraine’s air force said missiles were launched at the city—home to 3 million people—from at least two different directions.

Earlier, Russian forces carried out precise and direct strikes targeting logistics centers, workshops for manufacturing long-range drones, and storage sites belonging to the Ukrainian armed forces in Kyiv and its suburbs.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement, as reported by Russia’s Sputnik agency: “Last night, the Russian armed forces launched a large-scale attack using precision ground-based weapons and long-range drones, targeting transport, supply, and distribution centers in Kyiv and its suburbs, which are used to store and transport various types of weapons and military equipment, as well as to produce and distribute drones.”
