Syrian authorities seize 138 kg of hashish, 382,000 pills in Sweida

The Syrian Ministry of Interior’s Anti-Narcotics Department has foiled an international attempt to smuggle a shipment of narcotics, following a security operation in the eastern countryside of Sweida province that resulted in the seizure of large quantities of hashish and illicit pills.

The department announced on Saturday that 138 kilograms of hashish and 382,000 narcotic pills were seized and confiscated from groups operating outside the law in the province, according to the Syrian news agency SANA.

The Anti-Narcotics Department stated via its Telegram channel that authorities are continuing their investigations and security operations to identify and pursue those involved in the smuggling attempt, in preparation for taking legal action against them.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug smuggling, while the department has not disclosed the identities of the suspects currently being sought in connection with the case.

In a separate incident, the Anti-Narcotics Branch in Deir Ezzor province announced the arrest of a drug dealer in the area during a raid conducted in cooperation with the city’s security directorate and special forces.

The operation led to the seizure of 37 kilograms of hashish, as well as quantities of “H-Buzz” and other narcotic medications, in addition to various weapons and ammunition.
