Powerful explosions heard in Sanaa as fighting escalates in Taiz

Yemeni sources reported hearing powerful explosions in the capital, Sanaa, as the Yemeni army intensified airstrikes on Houthi militia fortifications around Taiz province, amid escalating clashes in the rural areas of the province.

Battlefronts in Taiz have seen a military escalation, with government forces and allied popular resistance adopting new tactics to counter Houthi movements, including setting up ambushes targeting militia fighters and their military vehicles.

Airstrikes have focused on the Al-Dhabab front west of Taiz city and the Al-Aqrood front to the south, coinciding with government forces repelling two separate Houthi attacks in those areas.

According to the media center of the Taiz military axis, Yemeni army units, supported by the popular resistance, managed to thwart both attacks, forcing the attackers to retreat after inflicting casualties and destroying military equipment.

The center added that the clashes coincided with ongoing ambushes against Houthi movements, resulting in further losses of personnel and equipment for the militia on the Taiz and western coastal fronts.
