Saudi investors consider Dragon Ball theme park near Paris

Saudi investors are currently exploring a project to develop a new entertainment complex at the former Mirapolis amusement park site near Paris, which could include a theme park inspired by the popular Japanese series "Dragon Ball."

The French website Sortir à Paris reported that the study is focused on the Cormeilles-en-Vexin area near Cergy in the Val-d'Oise department, where the former Mirapolis site is subject to negotiations led by Saudi investors. The website noted that talks with the Élysée Palace are ongoing, but no final agreement or implementation timeline has been announced so far.

The report pointed out that Mirapolis opened in 1987 as one of France's largest amusement parks, but closed in 1991 due to financial difficulties and declining visitor numbers. Since then, several redevelopment attempts have failed to restore the site's former entertainment role.

Project details

According to the report, the current proposal involves significant Saudi investment in the Cergy area and includes the creation of a theme park inspired by Akira Toriyama's "Dragon Ball" series, similar to the project under development in Saudi Arabia's Qiddiya, which features rides, hotels, and entertainment facilities based on the Japanese franchise.

The website explained that choosing the Mirapolis site gives the project historical significance and proximity to the French capital, but emphasized that the project remains in the negotiation phase, with details on financing, scale, regulatory approvals, and the execution schedule yet to be finalized.

The report also stressed that there has been no official announcement regarding the project's implementation or confirmation that the Val-d'Oise area will indeed host a Dragon Ball-themed amusement park funded by Saudi investors.
