British maritime agency: tanker hit by projectile off Oman’s Lima coast

A British maritime agency has reported that a tanker was struck by a projectile off the coast of Lima, Oman.

According to the agency, an official reported the incident involving a tanker off Lima’s coast, as cited by Al Arabiya.

The agency added that the projectile caused damage to the engine room, but there were no reports of injuries. The incident was reported to have occurred 11 nautical miles off the coast of Lima, Oman.

The incident comes amid heightened military tensions between the United States and Iran, following repeated Iranian attacks on maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and continued US enforcement of a naval blockade on Iranian ports.

US reports have indicated that Washington intends to continue its military operations against Iran for 14 days, aiming to weaken Iran’s military capabilities and pressure Tehran to accept US terms in ongoing negotiations.
