Health and civil defense officials in Gaza said an Israeli airstrike killed at least five Palestinians, including four women, in a residential building in Gaza City early this morning.

According to Reuters, medics and a local church reported that among the dead were two Christians, Maysa Abu Dawood and her daughter Mary. The strike destroyed the building and caused a fire.

Israel has intensified its attacks on the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in recent weeks, claiming the group is rearming and carrying out attacks in violation of a ceasefire.

The Gaza ceasefire brokered by the United States last year calls for the eventual reconstruction of the enclave. However, little progress has been made toward implementing an agreement aimed at ending the conflict, which includes disarming Hamas and the withdrawal of occupation forces.

Meanwhile, settlers, accompanied by occupation soldiers, attacked homes in Wadi Al-Hussain and the Jaber neighborhood east of Hebron on Sunday evening.

The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that armed settlers, under the protection of occupation soldiers, threw stones at homes in Wadi Al-Hussain and the Jaber neighborhood, issued threats and insults, and caused panic among children and women. The agency added that occupation forces fired live rounds at homes in the area.
