Oman working with Saudi Arabia, Yemen and UN envoy to revive political process

Oman's Foreign Ministry said the sultanate is closely monitoring recent developments related to the situation in the Red Sea, stressing the need to avoid escalation and any threats that could worsen the situation or endanger freedom of navigation.

In a statement on Thursday, the ministry noted that Oman is currently coordinating with Saudi Arabia, Yemeni parties, and the UN Special Envoy for Yemen to resume the political process and roadmap aimed at achieving security and stability in the region.

A source at the General Transport Authority confirmed the safety of all crew members aboard the ENCELIA, a vessel operated by a Saudi company, after it came under attack while sailing in the Red Sea, which caused a fire at the front of the ship.

The source added that relevant authorities took all necessary measures to secure the vessel and its crew, as well as to protect the marine environment from any potential impact of the incident.

The source also noted that such attacks constitute a violation of international laws and conventions that guarantee the safety of commercial ships and their crews.
