Kuwait condemns Iranian attack on Saudi tanker in Strait of Hormuz

Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned Iran's attack on a Saudi tanker as it transited the Strait of Hormuz, which resulted in fatalities among the crew.

In a statement, the ministry expressed Kuwait's strong condemnation and denunciation of the Iranian attack targeting the Saudi tanker Seder during its passage through the Strait of Hormuz, which led to the deaths of crew members. The ministry described the incident as a blatant violation of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2817, as well as a direct threat to the safety and security of maritime navigation and global energy supplies.

The ministry stressed the need for an immediate halt to all escalatory actions and adherence to international law guaranteeing freedom of navigation, affirming Kuwait's rejection of any attack on the safety and security of maritime navigation.

The ministry reiterated Kuwait's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia, its support for the Kingdom, and backing for all measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and interests.
