US Navy pilots rescued, four sailors injured in aircraft carrier incident off Virginia

Search and rescue teams saved two US Navy pilots and four crew members were injured following an accident during aircraft landing operations aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower off the coast of Virginia.

The US Navy said in a statement that the incident occurred at around 6:18 p.m. local time yesterday during aircraft recovery operations on the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier.

The Navy explained that two pilots from Carrier Air Wing Three ejected from their aircraft after the accident. They were recovered by search and rescue teams and returned safely to the carrier, where they were evaluated by medical staff.

The statement added that four crew members were injured in the incident and are receiving medical care. One sailor was transported to a hospital in the Norfolk area for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The US Navy did not disclose the type of aircraft involved in the accident or its cause, and no details were provided about the fate of the aircraft.
