Iraq will not allow its territory to be used for attacks on neighbors, says PM Zaidi

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Zaidi has stated that Iraq will not allow its territory or airspace to be used as a launchpad for attacks on neighboring countries, emphasizing that Iraq’s role supports the security and stability of the region, according to a statement from his media office.

During a late-night visit on Wednesday to the Air Defense Command operations center, Zaidi described the air defense system as “the shield of Iraq’s skies and the first line of defense for its sovereignty.” He stressed that Iraq will not tolerate any violation of its airspace or threats to its security from any party, according to Asharq.

The prime minister also noted that building a capable armed forces is a fundamental pillar for strengthening Iraq’s sovereignty and enhancing its ability to make independent political and military decisions.
