US Army suspends Apache helicopter training after fatal crash in Texas

The US Army has temporarily suspended training flights for AH-64 Apache helicopters following a crash near Fort Hood in Texas that killed two soldiers.

In a statement, the Army said the suspension will remain in effect until the root causes of the incident are determined. The helicopter crashed on Wednesday during a "maintenance test flight" in the vicinity of the base.

The crash resulted in the deaths of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Deontre T. Huey, aged 34, and Chief Warrant Officer Seth L. Olmstead, aged 25.

According to the Army, a team from the Combat Readiness Center is investigating the circumstances of the crash and reviewing helicopter flight safety procedures.

Authorities have not yet announced the cause of the crash, and the investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances and contributing factors.
