British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has confirmed his country's decision to send air defense systems and a Voyager aircraft to Saudi Arabia to support aerial refueling operations, revealing that the aircraft has already completed 14 operational missions as part of the UK's support for the Kingdom amid escalating Houthi attacks.

In a statement to the House of Commons on Monday, Burnham said that Britain is offering its full support to Saudi Arabia, noting that he discussed the escalating situation between the Kingdom and the Houthi group with US President Donald Trump.

The Prime Minister explained that the assistance aims to protect civilians, condemning the attacks targeting King Khalid International Airport, which he described as "horrific attacks."

Separately, Burnham announced that Britain will impose additional sanctions on Iran following a suspected plot targeting RAF Fairford airbase.

Speaking to lawmakers, he said: "I can confirm our assessment that the operation was likely coordinated inside Iran and was almost certainly directed by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps."

He added: "We will not tolerate these threats on our soil. We will respond firmly to Iran's use of criminal networks, using all our powers to target these networks and their sources of funding."

He continued: "We will also impose further sanctions to limit Iran and the Revolutionary Guard's ability to harm us."

Burnham noted that five people have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in terrorism-related offenses linked to the plot, and announced UK sanctions against two Iranian men. The measures include freezing their assets, banning their entry to the United Kingdom, and prohibiting them from conducting any business in the country.
