Israeli drone strike targets car near Damascus, injures one

Israeli military activity in southern Syria has entered a new phase of escalation, with a fresh strike on Saturday targeting a car in the town of Beit Jinn near Damascus, injuring one person, according to Syrian state media. The Israeli military said it was "reviewing" the reports.

The strike occurred in an area adjacent to the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, just days after Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir stated that Israel would not allow hostile forces to establish a presence along its borders, emphasizing the army's readiness to use its operational capabilities.

Syrian state television reported that a "civilian" was wounded when an "Israeli occupation drone targeted a car in the town of Beit Jinn in rural Damascus." In response to a query from AFP's Jerusalem bureau, the Israeli military said it was "reviewing" the reports regarding the incident.

This was not the only recent Israeli action in Syria. On Tuesday, Israeli forces shelled the Yarmouk Basin area in western Daraa province with artillery, though no casualties were reported.
