Iran says talks with Oman focus on Strait of Hormuz navigation

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that talks with Oman are focused on navigation routes in the Strait of Hormuz.

Araqchi added that the United States must accept Iran's conditions for navigation to resume in the Strait of Hormuz, noting that while Qatar and Pakistan are exchanging messages with Tehran, these do not amount to negotiations.

A US official told Bloomberg that imposing any fees on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz is unacceptable, adding that it would be wise for Iran to sign an agreement, otherwise they know what the consequences will be.

Iran continues to stall in talks with the US by repeatedly raising the issue of transit fees in the Strait of Hormuz, a move rejected by the United States and regional countries, who stress the importance of safeguarding freedom of navigation in international waterways.
