WHO warns of disease outbreak and worsening water pollution in Gaza

The World Health Organization has warned of a surge in waterborne diseases and respiratory infections in Gaza as the rainy and winter season approaches, citing water contamination, sewage overflows, accumulating waste, and overcrowded displacement sites as key factors.

The organization noted that water sample contamination rates have risen from 6% to over 18%, with a significant increase in cases of acute watery diarrhea.

The WHO called for the urgent and unimpeded entry of medicines, medical supplies, laboratory equipment, and rehabilitation devices into the Gaza Strip.
