Yemeni government gains strength with capture of Kahboub mountains, analyst says
Military analyst Mohammed Al-Kamim highlights the strategic importance of Yemeni government forces seizing the Kahboub mountain range overlooking Bab Al-Mandab.
Key Takeaways
AIMilitary analyst Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Kamim has highlighted the strategic significance of Yemeni government forces taking control of the Kahboub mountain range overlooking the Bab Al-Mandab strait.
Speaking to Al Arabiya FM, Al-Kamim said the Kahboub mountains form a large and strategic range with a direct view of Bab Al-Mandab, as well as serving as one of the gateways to Aden and Lahj. He added that the range is also connected to mountain chains extending into the Al-Wazi’iyah region and Taiz province.
He noted that controlling these mountains gives the armed forces the ability to conduct military and strategic operations along the coast. The area has recently been repeatedly targeted by Houthi militias, as the mountains pose a threat to Houthi gains in Bab Al-Mandab.
