Iran unlikely to honor international commitments, expert says

Ahram Center analyst Mohamed Abbas Naji said Iran has never demonstrated an ability to adhere to strict international commitments and is unlikely to honor any agreement.

Speaking in an interview with Al Arabiya FM, Naji added that Iran still views the resumption of military operations as a possible alternative to reaching an agreement with the United States, which it remains skeptical about.

He continued that Iran's cessation of attacks on Gulf states depends solely on ongoing efforts to revive negotiations, but this does not rule out the possibility that Iran may resume such aggression in the future, alongside its desire to threaten maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz.

A meeting between Omani and Iranian delegations in Oman on Friday and Saturday, according to Iran's foreign ministry, indicated potential for de-escalation. However, the trust deficit caused by Iran continues to undermine its credibility.
